Abstract
Personal financial management remains a common challenge for university students due to limited income and a lack of financial literacy. This study aims to design and develop BudgetEase, a web-based information system intended to assist students in recording, managing, and evaluating their financial budgets in a more structured manner. The system was developed using the agile scrum methodology over three iterative sprints, employing a user-centered design approach. Requirements were gathered through surveys and interviews, then translated into user stories that guided the feature design process. An evaluation involving 20 students indicated high levels of user satisfaction in terms of ease of use (4.45), interface design (4.60), and feature functionality (4.30) on a 5-point likert scale. However, the feature usefulness score remained relatively low (2.25), suggesting a need to further align system functionalities with user behavior. Overall, the system had a positive impact on students’ financial behavior, particularly in promoting regular expense tracking and awareness of budget planning. These findings suggest that integrating financial education with web-based technology holds significant potential for encouraging healthier financial habits. Future development will focus on mobile version integration and the implementation of AI-based features to enhance system personalization.
