Abstract

Stunting is one of the public health problems that has a long-term impact on the quality of human resources and economic growth of a country. This study aims to examine the role of maternal nutrition in efforts to prevent stunting and examine the contribution of nutritional interventions as a form of investment in economic development. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method at the UPTD Health Center in Bajawa City, Ngada Regency. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with health workers, pregnant women and mothers of toddlers, and observations of nutrition programs implemented at the health center. The results of the study showed that providing nutrition education, monitoring the nutritional status of mothers and children, and program support such as providing additional food (PMT) and iron tablets have a significant role in reducing the risk of stunting. In addition, a good understanding of nutrition in mothers has been shown to contribute to improving child health which has an impact on long-term productivity. These findings confirm that maternal nutrition interventions are not only a health strategy, but also a form of investment in sustainable economic development. Therefore, cross-sector collaboration and strengthening primary health services are key to overcoming stunting comprehensively.
