Abstract
This study aims to analyse the influence of good university governance on the performance of private universities moderated by need for achievement in Makassar City. The type and approach of this research is quantitative with a descriptive approach. The data collection techniques used are questionnaires and observations. The population of this study is private universities in Makassar City and the sampling technique used is purposive sampling so that the number of samples is 78 people spread across 5 private universities. The results of the study show that: 1) good university governance has a positive and significant effect on the performance of private universities in Makassar City; 2) need for achievement strengthens the influence of good university governance on the performance of private universities in Makassar City; 4) need for achievement weakens the influence of the internal control system on the performance of private universities in Makassar City.
