Abstract

Employee loyalty is a crucial aspect that must be maintained by every company in running its business. However, certain factors can decrease employee loyalty to the company, such as work-related stress experienced by employees. Work stress affects employees' psychological, physiological, and behavioural conditions, making the work environment feel uncomfortable and unsafe. This study aims to examine the effect of work stress on employee loyalty, particularly among generation Z employees, who tend to be more selective in choosing jobs that are not only beneficial but also provide a sense of security. The subjects of this study were 105 generation Z employees in Samarinda, selected using a simple random sampling technique. The data collection methods used were the employee loyalty scale and the work stress scale. The analysis technique applied was simple linear regression, processed with the help of SPSS version 26.0 for Windows. The results of this study indicate that work stress influences the loyalty of generation Z employees in Samarinda. This is evidenced by the calculated F-value being greater than the F-table value, with an impact percentage of 23.3%. The results of this study indicate that companies should pay attention to factors that cause work stress in order to maintain the quality of employee loyalty.
