Abstract

Regional economic growth is influenced not only by production activities but also by fiscal capacity, financial sector development, and investment. This study aims to analyze the role of fiscal capacity, Islamic banking, and foreign investment in promoting economic growth in Southern Sumatra. The study employs a quantitative approach using panel data from five provinces, namely Jambi, South Sumatra, Bengkulu, Lampung, and Bangka Belitung Islands, covering the period 2020–2025, with 30 observations. Economic growth is used as the dependent variable, while Own-Source Revenue (PAD), Islamic banking financing, and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) are used as independent variables. The analysis employs panel data regression, with model selection based on the Chow and Hausman tests. The Fixed Effect Model results show that PAD has a positive and significant effect on economic growth. Islamic banking financing has a positive but insignificant relationship, while FDI has a negative and insignificant relationship at the 5 percent significance level. Simultaneously, the three variables significantly affect economic growth. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening regional fiscal capacity, while the effectiveness of Islamic financing and FDI depends on the ability of economic sectors to transform these resources into productive activities.
