This study critical analyzes the aestheticization of human suffering and trauma commodification in Ari Keling's novel Luka Paling Dalam (2019) through Pierre Bourdieu's sociology of literature framework. The research aims to unravel textual representations of domestic violence and explain how psychological trauma is strategic accumulated as cultural and symbolic capital in the contemporary literary field. Utilizing a descriptive-analytical qualitative method combining dialectical textual analysis and Bourdieu’s field analysis, this research draws data from textual korpus units (dialogues, inner monologues, and descriptive narratives) and secondary paratextual documents. The findings reveal three fundamental insights: (1) Domestic violence is represented through stylized and poeticized textual descriptions that intentionally soften physical horror while elevating emotional catharsis for readers, rendering trauma aesthetically consumable; (2) The protagonist’s psychological trauma is structured as an objectified cultural capital that is successfully converted into symbolic distinction and economic revenue via large-scale market production; and (3) The novel's market reception reflects the author's dynamic habitus in navigating heteronomous commercial demands within the Indonesian popular publishing industry. By integrating perspectives from political economy of media and critical literary sociology, the study concludes that while popular narrative depictions of domestic abuse increase public awareness, they simultaneously risk reducing profound social critiques into affect-driven commercial commodities. The study implies the necessity of critical reading practices when consuming popular trauma fictions.
