Growing volumes of household waste remain a pressing environmental concern that is best addressed from the source, including through sorting waste into organic, inorganic, and hazardous and toxic (B3) categories. Sorting facilities in many villages, including Jaranguda Village, remain limited. Regency-level data show that Karo Regency generated approximately 385,703 tons of waste per year in 2025 according to the national waste information system, while village-level data are not available. This community service program provided sorting facilities for the three waste categories to support environmental management in Jaranguda Village, Merdeka Sub-district, Karo Regency. The activity was conducted by students of the Community Service Program (KKN) using a descriptive method with a Participatory Action Research approach, through the stages of needs identification, planning, facility construction, facility placement, and descriptive documentation and evaluation. The program produced one set of three sorted waste bins (organic, inorganic, and B3), each with a capacity of 20 liters, which were handed over and placed at the Jaranguda Village Office during the KKN closing ceremony. The facilities are a tangible contribution to the village's waste-sorting infrastructure, and their sustained use depends on a follow-up management scheme involving the village government, the local environmental agency, and subsequent KKN groups, as outlined in this article.
