Abstract

The absence of an official fandom reference during the initial three months of the boy group CORTIS’s debut triggered identity ambiguity among young Indonesian fans on TikTok. This qualitative study analyzes how digital discourse on the #Ngortis hashtag constructs the social identity of this fan community. Utilizing Rodney H. Jones’s Digital Discourse Analysis combined with Social Identity Theory and Participatory Culture framework, this study purposively examines five selected TikTok video corpuses along with their comment sections posted during October–November 2025. Findings indicate that community identity is formed gradually, beginning with the use of the #Ngortis hashtag as an initial grouping marker, which is then reinforced through mutual-support practices in the comment section, and ultimately merges with the official COER identity through a shared narrative of integration.
